Photography Project Brief- REFLECTION
The topic I have chosen is REFLECTION. Reflection is a contemporary topic that can be interpreted in many ways. I have chosen reflection because it is an interesting topic with lots of different avenues to go down such as; Mirror reflection which would be taking a reflective image using a mirror or any type of glass to get the desired effect. Another example would be water reflection which would be taking a reflective image using water to get the desired effect.
Artists that have been inspired by reflection are:

Artists that have been inspired by reflection are:
- Paolo Roversi
- Philipp Klinger
- Craig Whitehead
- Paolo Roversi was inspired to use a 8x10 polaroid camera and take mirrored photographs of different fashion items.
- Philipp Klinger used water in his photographs to get his reflection photography , usually of landscapes
- Craig Whitehead uses glass to capture his unique images using the reflection in the glass.

Peer EvaluationName:Joe Carroll
Peer: Liam Bradley
A-Level Photography Student Mark Sheet
Review of Independent Project
Refer to the A-Level Assessment Criteria and the original brief
AO1 – research
AO2 - experiment
AO3- refine
AO4 – outcome
Explain why you have awarded the marks for each assessment criteria.
AO1 – 21 I believe Joe has produced a great bank of research and has annotated this research in a detailed way
AO2 – 22 I see that Joe has experimented well with the images he has taken based off of his research.
AO3 – 17 Joe needs to add more annotation to his work to achieve a higher
AO4 – 23 Joe has professionally found visually appealing angles to take photographs from and has laid out his work really well.
Your peer will now have until Friday 5th April to make any suggested improvement so please give them meaningful feedback on the following;
RAW Images – Where would you like them to go to take more images? How many should they take? I would like Joe to come up with another 4x5 gallery of work. To be put on his weebly site. How do you want them to take them? I would like Joe to carry on experimenting on his own because I feel that is the best work that Joe does Angles? Blurred? Etc.
Research – Could more in-depth research be done? I feel that Joe has done enough research and does not need to continue with that If so, explain how and why?
Experiments – What Photoshop edits could they do? I would like Joe to experiment with the reflection of certain regular objects that somehow could be photographed in a new and interesting way How could they improve their own?
Collage – Have they used collage? Joe can use more collage in his work to improve what he has already done. Was it successful? How would you vision they use this to improve?
Analysis and annotation – Have they analysed the work of a photographer? Joe has researched a couple of photographers well How could they improve their annotation to help them develop? He could talk about a popular project the worked on using reflection to improve his research
Final outcome – Give them feedback and tell them how you vision their final outcome. You may want to provide step by step guide. If Joe follows the instructions that I have given him then he will have comfortably exceeded my starting expectations

- Look at the project brief. Has your peer attempted all aspects of the brief? What did they do particularly well in? Joe has successfully answered all parts of my brief. I particularly like his experimental photo section, although it wasn’t in the brief I appreciate the fact that he has gone out of his way to go ahead and add to his project in this way.
- What could they improve on? Joe could improve his research by adding further description about his researched artist’s work. He could talk about recent projects of the artists and what they were most famous for.
- Have they attempted the brief the way you wanted them to? Yes, Joe has executed this brief in the exact way I wanted him to.
- Grade each assessment objective against the AQA Assessment Criteria.

John Dalkin
John Dalkin is an architect living and working in Birmingham , England. Photography is a hobby to him , at first he started on 35mm colour slides and filters , and more recently , digital using Photoshops.
John's fantastic photo-stream contains an incredible collection of shots. Whether it is architecture, colours, shapes or trips to faraway locations, John's work is of a consistently superb quality, and a joy to contemplate. He also has a large collection of reflections in his work , as seen above. I would like to take his quality of work into my own , the reflections are clear and sharp. In-addition his composition is varied and interesting , something else i will be experimenting with.
Philipp Klinger
Klinger was born in Kronach/Ofr. and studied Physical Geography at the University of Bayreuth. Currently, he's working as a satellite remote sensing specialist close to Munich. In 2007 he started to photograph with digital SLR cameras, first with a Pentax K10D, then with a Pentax K7. Later he switched to Nikon’s full frame cameras and used D600 and D700 models. Ever since he started seriously with photography, the grand landscapes of the North and the rural ones around my home have become his main subjects. As his passion for hiking and mountaineering steadily increased after he moved close to the Bavarian Alps, he found bulky DSLR cameras more and more inconvenient. He's also very much into long distance, several days hiking and canoe touring which is why you can now find tour reports in his new section tour book. Therefore he was looking for a lightweight and compact but nevertheless high-quality alternative and recently turned towards Sony’s a6300 APSC camera.
Klinger is an expert in landscape photography , therefore reflections only adds to the already stunning images. His landscapes are something i would like to experiment with in my own work as they look impressive and grand. The colours seen in his work are vibrant and add to the grandeur of the picture. His reflections mainly take place in a city which will allow me to easily be inspired by his work when i decide to experiment in his style.
Other Examples
My Work
Experiment - Philip Klinger
This image was taken at the Royal Albert Dock , Liverpool. It is a panoramic of the view of the city , the photograph is vibrant and contrasts well against the night sky.
Refining Images - Philip Klinger
This panoramic highlights the colours of the city. The lights reflect against the water creating an interesting effect , overshadowed by the brightly lit Wheel of Liverpool.
The reflections in this collection of images are slightly distorted , creating an effect where the real world almost melts into an alternate one. It stands out against the other pictures above it because of that reason. Its unique.
Collages
We were tasked to include collages or text to our photographs. I experimented with the composition of the images and even added text to one of them.
